BREAKAGE

Greetings!

It´s been a while I know, been quite busy recently building the new website (www.skalatormusic.com) and also with the release of my new EP called "Rising Beyond" (Bandcamp), check them out when you have some time...

Focus of this post goes to James Boyle aka BREAKAGE, a London based producer and DJ. Moving effortlessly through styles on the bass music scene, words are short to describe his talent as one of the most versatile operators around nowadays. Already with an impressive back catalog, he has a number of classic releases under his belt on Reinforced, Inperspective, Bassbin and Digital Soundboy but continues shaping his sound, combining rich tones and incredible and versatile production technique on the AMEN break and full basslines, he sits on the top with his fellow mates Shy Fx, Equinox, B Key and Dub-One.

He was at the forefront of a new wave of Breakbeat scientists bringing a percussive sound back to Drum and Bass at a time when the scene seemed to have forgotten its JUNGLE roots.

My personal view is that I prefer his older amen jungle material to the current music he produces these days but I have to admit that the quality on the productions remains intact...
More recently, Breakage has moved away from the oldskool jungle choppage into slower tempo areas but still very worthy to hear what he´s been doing recently and what he has been preparing to be soon released..big up mate!

In the meantime, have a listen to the all-time jungle classic "So Vain", by Breakage:
